Rails

The Rails manifesto

Soon you'll hire an agent the way you hire a contractor. You'll pick one built for your job, by someone who knows that job, and it will work inside the AI you already use.

That market doesn't exist yet. Engineers got coding agents that know their codebase, follow its rules and ship work a person reviews. Everyone else got a chat box that knows nothing about their job.

The hard part was never the model. A coding agent works because of everything around it: the codebase, the rules, the checks. Every other job needs the same setup. Today each team builds it from scratch, inside one AI app, and nothing carries over to the next team.

Rails is the platform for building that setup once. A specialized agent on Rails carries its playbook, memory, tools and approvals with it, and runs in the AI apps your team already uses, starting with Claude and Codex. It is built to move with you when that changes. The engines change. The rails stay.

We're building toward the marketplace in four stops.

  1. Our company

Our own company. I run Rails on agents I built with Rails. Fundraising, engineering, design and day to day operations run on them with a team of one. Every gap we hit becomes a part of the platform.

  2. Enterprise

Enterprise. We put Rails agents into real companies, one job at a time, and stay until the agent does that job the way the company's best person does.

  3. Open platform

The open platform. We open Rails to anyone who knows a job well enough to teach it, at companies and on their own.

  4. Marketplace

The marketplace. Builders sell their agents. People hire the agent that fits their job.

Each stop leaves parts behind for the next one. That's how a platform compounds.

Every business in the world will run on agents. That's the bet. We're laying the track.
